Jack E. Mannix, CTC is the founder and principal of Jack E. Mannix & Associates located in the Ft. Lauderdale area. After more than 30 years of travel industry experience in virtually all segments of the business, Mannix is uniquely equipped to provide industry leaders and those just beginning their careers expertise on achieving their business goals. His passion for the industry and his customer’s success is well documented and his perennial focus is on ensuring his customer good business health and not just “writing the prescription”.
For eight and a half years, Mannix was the President and CEO of Ensemble Travel Group, the New York-based travel agency cooperative with approximately 800 locations in the United States and Canada where he was responsible for the strategic direction of the company as well as its day-to-day management. Under his leadership, Ensemble became one of the premier organizations in the industry.
Prior to Ensemble, he spent two years as President of The Travel Institute in Wellesley, Massachusetts. The Travel Institute is an international, non-profit organization that educates, tests and certifies travel industry professionals at all stages of their careers. In this role, he was responsible for the strategic direction and operation of the company.
Mannix previously spent six years as Managing Director of Travel Related Services, Marketing and Industry Relations at AAA’s national headquarters in Orlando where he was responsible for AAA’s nationwide travel business including its national travel strategy and its execution. Mannix was also responsible for supplier relations including the negotiation of agreements and the achievement of sales targets by the 1000-plus AAA locations in the U.S. and Canada.
During a 16 year career with American Express, he held various sales, marketing and general management positions. One of his last executive positions was that of Vice President, Representative Network, responsible for approximately 400 travel agency franchisees in the US. Mannix began his career as a travel agent, a capacity in which he served for seven years.
Currently, Mannix serves on the Board of Trustees of The Travel Institute, ASTA's Corporate Advisory Council, and the Starwood Hotels and Resorts Leisure Travel Advisory Board. He has been quoted in NY Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, has appeared on NBC Today and ABC Good morning America as travel expert, amongst numerous other media.
Mannix holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from American International College and a Master of Business Administration from Western New England University. He is married with one adult child. Mannix is a fully rated Commercial Pilot, holds Multi-Engine and Instrument ratings, and has completed initial training on the Boeing 737-800/900 at the Houston training facilities of Continental Airlines, where he also earned the FAA’s “High Altitude Endorsement”. He enjoys auto racing as both a participant and spectator and has sworn to his wife Wendi that this will be the year that he completes a total restoration of one of his two classic Corvettes.
